Hi Friends, March: Re-Emergence and New Beginnings! Happy Spring! The new season, longer days, warmer temperatures, the vaccination roll-out (YAY!)...it seems like we are at long last EMERGING from our cocoons. While every day is an opportunity to begin anew (and so is every moment), it feels like all this good weather and good news is a perfect opportunity to push the reset button. The opportunity exists to emerge from your 'pandemic pod' with more choices, new possibilities and a different attitude. Time To Check in With Yourself So how are you feeling right now? Are you ready to pick up your life exactly where you left off, pre-pandemic? Some areas to think about:
You can, of course, continue to do things the way you always did, and to want nothing different than what you already have. Gratitude and feeling content with where you are right now is an excellent place to start. And, even with that gratitude and appreciation, you can still think about your dreams and desires for the future. What would make you feel happy, proud, more empowered, help you grow? What change could alter a situation in your life enough, so that the situation would feel less problematic to you? One year in quarantine, a year unlike anything you have experienced before, may have given you the time and space to see things differently. It's likely that several circumstances in your life have shifted. And now you are in a perfect place to make new choices. To decide how you want to proceed in your life. To figure out what you want to let go of, and what you want to create. Because your life unfolds based on the actions you take, those actions should be in the direction of the things you truly want to experience. Choosing The Life You Want To Have As a coach, I believe you can create the life you want to have. You can't always control all the circumstances in your life (hello Pandemic), but you can choose how you respond to these circumstances. When your emotions get triggered (and if you're human, they often do), you have the ability to choose how you deal with them. Will you openly express them, or will you bury them? The way you handle both the circumstances in your life and the emotions you feel will ultimately create your experience of life. Your Thoughts Create Your Reality I've noticed that as women age, they often start putting limitations on what they can experience in their lives. They often assume that less is possible for them, and that big changes are just not on the menu. For example, they sometimes define themselves in a certain way, and then feel "stuck" in that one position. "This is how I am. I'm a procrastinator." "I am just not a creative person." Or they let past experiences limit what they believe they are capable of achieving today. "I've tried to lose weight, and I just can't keep it off. It's just not possible for me." Or they have strong beliefs (often false) about the world, and let those beliefs limit what is possible for them. "Men my age always go for younger women. I'll be single forever." I believe it's possible for you to get what you want in your life, no matter what stage of life you are in. You can learn to "see" the thoughts you have that are holding you back, and shift them so that you are able to take specific actions that move you toward the things you want. You can set new goals and achieve new things. Having a coach can help you do that. As part of my coaching process, you will learn how your physical body works so you can best support it, understand how to manage your mind, and learn to embrace all your emotions. You will discover and appreciate your unique self, and to form healthy connections with others that respect your personal boundaries. Throughout the process, new possibilities become visible to you. Now, improving your body, your relationships, or your job (just as examples) begin to feel achievable. You learn how to create the experiences you want to have, because you become a PRO at using the most important tool you own ...YOU. Only YOU can change you. Once you own that, you can truly make your life work for you in the way you want it to. For those less familiar with coaching, here's what coaching is not:
